Pink Mon€y - South Africa / Germany / Switserland

In “PINK MON€Y”, an international collaboration consisting of the artists Annalyzer (South Africa), Djana Covic (Netherlands/Austria), Nico de Rooij (Netherlands), Kieron Jina (South Africa), Mbali Mdluli (South Africa) and Antje Schupp (Switzerland), the theatre becomes an LGBTIQ* club.

The audience moves around freely between dance floor, bar, DJ console and two stages. In this club-cum-theatre, international homophobia and growing racism are denounced, while at the same time the queer community is celebrated. The cynical dialectics of maximised profit and unscrupulous, optimised pleasure are shown in the context of homophobic, latent or open racism.

“PINK MON€Y” makes a clever and powerful plea for individuality, diversity, self-determined love and tolerance. At the same time, the work shows in an impressive and oppressive way that the pink money industry is essentially based on the worldwide discrimination and violence experienced by people who live outside the norm. And the focus widens to reveal the complex entanglements of white privileges in the queer community and the need to make black people and people of color more visible.

Pristhine mon Amour / Kosovo

The Boro I Ramiz is a famous building in Prishtina.

Built under the communist regime to make Prishtina an important city in Jugoslawia, it became a place of memory for many people – before and after communism. The place, now called “Palace of Youth”, was an event hall for cultural events with an ice-skating rink included. Many people in Prishtina remember it from their childhood as a place of spending evenings with concerts, shows, sports and more. All that, until the building burned in 2004 under still unexplained mysterious circumstances. The temporary re-inhabitation of a building like Boro I Ramiz through the Art-event “Prishtine mon amour” makes it possible to awaken these memories for once more.
Tobias Bienz one of the curators of the event contacted our team attended to help the project with some scenographic conceptual and logistical suggestions.

Cyberthreat in multicultural societies - CENTRE FOR BALKAN COOPORATION - LOJA / NORTH MACEDONIA

Theory and Practice of Scenography & Performance / Cyberthreat in multicultural societies

The Potentials of Space interrogates the relationship between scenography and performance in contemporary dramatic activities. The lecture provides an illuminating platform for discussion concerning the interrelations between theatrical movement and gesture in physical space. In exploring territories of performance, Nico de Rooij and Djana Covic equally combines theoretical research with details of dramatic methods and performances, thus providing a valuable insight into working practices.
Avant-garde and experimental approaches towards sensory, spatial and visual aspects of the stage are described and explored. Through a discussion regarding the performance possibilities viable through technological development and new media in recent years, the lecture aims to challenge tradition and inspire new creative directions upon the stage. The lecture breaks new ground on dramatic and spatial awareness within the tropics of theatre and Film. An inspiration for those interested in, or studying, theatrical practice and scenography.
Engaging in areas of performance and scenography, immensely easy too listen too and profound.

This lecture gives participants the latest thinking, practice and research

BAUHSTELLE - Belgrade / Pristhine / Zurich

Bauhstelle

The project is divided into two phases: the research and the performance phase. In the research phase we will travel through the three cities to explore the question “What do you believe in?”. Throughout this time, the artists will live and work in art houses rented out by the project that will serve as workspaces and meeting points of the project participants. This phase is vital since this is the time when all the ideas are conceptualized and the spirit of takes shape. We organize an open program for visitors with lectures, concerts, talks and actions. All events (including the main performance) will be free to visit.

What is it that drives us to act – any kind of action in life? What incites us to take our choices and to do what we do? To build the for us is a challenge to listen to the belief system that stays behind our decisions, behind our concepts of life. We want to observe, and perhaps question that system. To build the is for us the challenge to create a NOT space – which is that open, that all the individual question can exist in the same time in the same space. Our aim is not to find answers but to raise questions. In the all the individual answers, happening in the same time, are leading to new questions.
